This painting features one of my favourite characters when I was growing up, Asterix the Gaul. I used to love those books and TV shows… and realised whilst creating this piece that I still love the books! Found a few secondhand Asterix books in an antique shop in London and couldn’t resist. They are hilarious and full of adult humour which I didn’t appreciate as a 10 year old boy!

Think they make a really good backdrop for this painting of Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix! I bet if you grew up in the 70s and 80s you loved this little guy too?  The painting is big (see photo with me!) and is created in oil on board.
