London Eye

Big Ben Painting

I was recently commissioned to create a painting for a lovely couple who wanted an iconic London scene. I worked up moodboards to help them decide on the right landmarks and colour palette for the space in their dining room. We settled on a view of Big Ben with the London Eye as it was a good blend of traditional and modern architecture and both are iconic and visually associated with London.

I sprayed the background to get a nice sunset sky before using a graphic design style to bring out the silhouette of the London Eye at sunset. The base of the painting runs off the canvas in drips which worked particularly well I felt for the Houses of Parliament.

The finished canvas is 3′ x 3′ and looks great hanging above their fireplace. I especially like the way you catch glimpses of it reflected in the mirror. The clients are delighted with the painting and are already thinking about another one for their lounge next.
