Robert De Niro (Travis Bickle) in the 1976 Scorsese classic movie, Taxi Driver.  For this portrait, titled “You talkin’ to me?”, I have gone for a side profile to focus on the mohican! This was a really powerful performance by De Niro and the film is regularly cited as one of the greatest movies of all time (although it is not for the squeamish!).

At a 40th anniversary screening of the film in 2016 Robert De Niro introduced the movie by saying “Every day for 40 ****ing years at least one of you has come up to me and said – what do you think – ‘You talkin’ to me?”!!!

I painted the background in New York Taxi yellow with their chequerboards. The portrait is acrylic 75cm x 50cm approx on canvas.
